On the article Alcohol May Have Been Factor in Thursday Morning Crash on Hwy. 19

Thanks for the comment, Frank. Law enforcement says alcohol was in the driver's system. From the story: "Franzoni had alcohol present in his system, and was not wearing a seatbelt, the state patrol said." Was it a factor? Charges will tell that tale, but the fact it was in his system is germane to the story. Thanks.

On the article Embattled Lakeville North Activities Director—a Northfield Resident—to Step Down

Kiffi, thanks for the comment. From my perspective: this was his second alcohol-related arrest in four years. Also, he's basically tasked with leading the school's anti-drugs and alcohol programs. He's in a very important role, and parents have the right to know, including Northfield parents who open-enroll in Lakeville. I'm sorry you disagree with that sentiment. As always, thanks for the feedback.

Chris—what would you cut at the District Office? Could be a good idea. That said, in this proposal, the district's technology coordinator would be cut, as would an assistant communications worker. Both of those are admin jobs housed at the DO.

ReplyFYI: The previous story and link is broken. There were five comments on the story, including: D Mason: This is important news why? Is it any of our business that aman drank to much and drove, or that a court over-reacted to a DUI? Does not this sort of thing go on daily in most places. I fail to find it newsworthy, but do find it gossipy. Maybe it should be on a dork centric place like twitter or facebook - then all could share their thoughts about something that is none of their business.

ReplyFYI: The previous story and link is broken. There were five comments on the story, including: Katy G: I'm sorry but this is important. This is a person that has contact with our young adults EVERY DAY and I'm sorry but I'm not very happy that this person not once but twice in the past 5 years has been gulity of such a self-centered act !! It's one thing to have a chemical problem, we're all human, but to get into a CAR and DRIVE that is unacceptable! June, 11:30pm, Lots of our KIDS ending highschool are out and about, what would you say if he HIT and HURT one of our community kids? He should be ashamed and there needs to be some punishment directed by our schoolboard ASAP !

ReplyFYI: The previous story and link is broken. There were five comments on the story, including: Panther Parent: D Mason...Considering his position of authority in the community I feel it is very news worthy. His actions are pretty hypocritical when you are an Activities Director at the High School and your duties include enforcing policies on substance abuse and policing students at athletic events. He has lost the respect of many people in the community, his students, fellow administrators and the best course of action the District can take is to terminate his employment. I understand this happens to people, but I just do not see how he can effectively perform his particular job after these unfortunate events. I wish him well in his recovery.
