More than 900 Northampton Community College students -- including 45 Nazareth area students -- were honored for their hard work and dedication at a commencement ceremony held on Saturday.

Northampton Community College held a commencement ceremony Jan. 26 for more than 900 students who completed associate degrees, specialized diplomas and certificates during the past six months, according to a press release. The graduates majored in close to 100 different fields ranging from fine art to biotechnology. Daniel H. Weiss, president of Lafayette College, will be the speaker at Northampton Community College's winter commencement, to take place on Jan. 26 at the Arthur L. Scott Spartan Center, 3835 Green Pond Road, Bethlehem Township. Weiss earned an M.A. and a Ph.D. in art history at Johns Hopkins University, joining the faculty there in 1993. He also holds an M.B.A. from the Yale School of Management. He has a B.A. from George Washington University, where he graduated with a double major in art history and psychology. From the Johns Hopkins University, where he was the James B. Knapp Dean of the Zanvyl Krieger School of Arts and Sciences, he came to Lafayette College as president in 2005. Northampton Community College's winter commencement was held yesterday, Jan. 28; close to 750 students received degrees, diplomas and certificates.
Northampton Community College's winter commencement was held yesterday, Jan. 28, for close to 750 students -- including 35 Nazareth area students -- who completed associate degrees, specialized diplomas and certificates in August or December, according to www.northampton.edu. Michael Rodriguez, the principal at Herbert Hoover Elementary School in Neshaminy, Bucks County, gave the commencement address. The students were awarded an Associate in Arts (AA), an Associate in Science (AS), an Associate in Applied Science (AAS), a certificate (CERT) and/or a specialized diploma (SD).
