U.S. Open in Merion: Tickets Still Available

Many categories of tickets are sold out, but there are still some available if you want to see these great golfers competing in your neighborhood.

When tickets for the 2013 U.S. Open, to be held at Merion Golf Club, went on sale in June, many categories quickly sold out. “Due to space constraints, only 25,000 spectator tickets will be sold, which is significantly fewer tickets than a typical U.S. Open,” the ticketing website reads. Tickets for Friday, Saturday and Sunday are completely sold out, according to the ticketing site, as are passes for the entire week. But, there are still tickets available for the June 10-16 event. Monday through Wednesday are practice rounds with the tournament running Thursday through Sunday. Only one ticket type (listed below) is not yet sold out for tournament days. Former U.S. Open Tennis Chair Merv Heller Dead at 65

Funeral services for Merv Heller of Bethlehem are set for August 28 at Central Moravian Church.

Mervin A. Heller Jr. of Bethlehem and formerly of Berks County died on Aug. 21, 2012 at St. Luke's Hospital following a prolonged illness. Heller was former chair of the U.S. Open tennis competition - one of the most prestigious events in sports. He was born June 10, 1947, in Reading, Pa., son of the late Mervin A. Heller Sr. and Rachel Turkington. Mervin will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Jan S. Heller of Bethlehem; daughters: Marnie A. Healey and her husband, Nathan, of Wyomissing, Christina Heller of Los Angeles, CA, Katie Heller of San Francisco, CA, and Jenna Berninger of Baltimore, MD; as well as his grandchildren, Ana and Vieve Healey.
