Patch's Top Dog Contest: Meet Your Finalists

The winners of five regional Patch Top Dog contests, stretching from the Lehigh Valley through southern New Jersey, face off for our grand prize.

Dear Patch Readers, We've spent the last month getting to know a lot of great dogs (and a lot of great dog owners), but now it's down to the final five. Back in mid-June, we asked readers of more than 50 Patch sites in Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey to submit and vote on nominees for the title of Top Dog in their towns. The local winners then faced off in regional contests that stretched all the way from the Lehigh Valley down to South Jersey. Meet the winners of those regional Top Dog contests: One of these entrants will be named the Greater Philadelphia Patch Top Dog and win our grand prize package: A professional photo shoot at their home and a $250 gift card to PetSmart, as well as a gift basket compliments of local business A …

Bree, of South Whitehall, Named Lehigh Valley Top Dog

Bree, of South Whitehall Township, has been named the Top Dog of the Lehigh Valley. Can she best the rest in the final round?

After 11 days of intense voting, Bree, of South Whitehall Township, has been crowned the Top Dog of the Lehigh Valley. Bree, who enjoys car rides and walking along railroad tracks near her home, has been the "loyal companion" of Brian Hite for six years. According to Hite, Bree was a rescue and only has one eye, "but that doesn't stop her from checking out the squirrels and chipmunks!" One of Bree's noteworthy contenders was Mazey May, the Top Dog of Southern Lehigh. She has earned the silver medal in the Lehigh Valley's Top Dog contest. Although the beautiful Black Labrador recently passed away, her owner, known online as Slyfox, keeps her story alive. I would not be doing Mazey May justice by summarizing that story, so head on over to …

Thank you to everyone who has participated in voting, I think it has been over whelming response which proves dogs are truly loved. Brian   more ›

'Louis The Sun King' is the Top Dog of Nazareth Patch

"Louis The Sun King," a Brittany puppy, has been named the Top Dog of Nazareth Patch. Can he best the rest in the regional competition?

After 23 submissions and two weeks of intense voting, "Louis The Sun King" has been crowned the Top Dog of Nazareth Patch. Louis, of Nazareth, is a Brittany puppy and is owned (or owns?) by John and Carol Scarangello. Carol uploaded Louis' photo and described him as "an energetic, loving, playful Brittany puppy who spends his days chasing anything that flies past his nose." Hopefully a few extra treats will fly past that nose now that he's famous! Also noteworthy is Seal Sandt, the pup who gave Louis a run for his money. Seal resides with Kyle and Amanda Sandt. After saying "Sayonara!" to his shelter days, Seal now enjoys long walks, running around and, most of all, being a cuddle bug, according to Amanda. Next up for Louis?  The winners …
