Nazareth-area actress Kate Micucci began a role on "Big Bang Theory" on Valentine's Day. Alan V. Dilsaver, 56, a Palmer Township dentist and former Lower Nazareth Township supervisor, was among the five men and one woman charged in a prostitution sting. Tatamy Bridge Opening Slated for June

Palmer Township Supervisors chairman Dave Colver provides an update on the Tatamy Bridge construction.

A long-closed motorist route may be opening soon. The old, broken-down bridge that connects Main Street in Tatamy with Uhler Road in Forks Township may finally be repaired and open possibly by June 30, Palmer Township Supervisors Chairman Dave Colver said. "There's concrete in the ground and beams," Colver said. "I think it could be around June 30." Work started on the bridge last year when construction workers sliced through the steel bridge supports with a torch, which then allowed the crane operator to lift bridge beams off their concrete support pillars. The bridge was closed in May 2011 when a hole in the road deck expanded. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has not provided an update on when the new bridge will be …

And with the opening of the bridge the Tatamy Police will lose a lot of income from writing tickets from the stop sign. But I'm sure they will set up a speed trap just on their side of the bridge, since the speed limit will go from 45 mph on the East side to 35 mph on Tatamy's side.   more ›

Tatamy Bridge Demolition Finally Begins

Years in the making, the old, broken-down bridge that connects Main Street in Tatamy with Uhler Road in Forks Township is finally being demolished.

The old, broken-down bridge in Tatamy is finally coming down. Construction workers Wednesday afternoon sliced through the steel bridge supports with a torch, which then allowed the crane operator to lift bridge beams off their concrete support pillars. The beams were then gently placed on the closed roadway leading to the bridge. “It’s coming down fast," Tatamy Mayor Luke Duignam said about the bridge that spans the Bushkill Creek. "Let’s hope [the new bridge] goes up just as fast.” The bridge, which connects Main Street in Tatamy with Uhler Road in Forks Township, was closed last year when a hole in the road deck expanded, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation reported.
