Update 11 a.m. Thursday: WFMZ reports a storm is looking increasingly likely for Tuesday-Wednesday but the big question is whether it will be rain or snow. The National Weather Service predicts a chance of rain/snow on Tuesday night. Original Story: It could be much more than a White Christmas if the Lehigh Valley gets one to two feet of snow next week. The Eastern Pa. Weather Authority says a potentially "monstrous" storm is showing up on a European weather model, according to the following post on the group's Facebook page: Update on next week's storm potential.... this is as monstrous of a storm you can get just about, as modeled on today's 12z European model run. This would be, if correct, a "KU" storm... or one for the history books. …

Weather watchers Bobby and Suzy have a fast-growing fan base
Starting your own weather service seems a bit like creating your own mail delivery – the kind of thing only new countries and millionaire businessmen do. Bobby Martrich and Susan Haberacker are neither but they managed to launch the “Lehigh Valley Weather Patrol with Bobby and Suzy” 11 months ago and have seen it grow by great gusts. The Weather Patrol, which issues forecasts from its Facebook page, has more than 4,300 fans. Its popularity has encouraged Martrich and Haberacker, both 35, to move the Weather Patrol to its own web site in January and sell advertisements to offset costs and make money for their labors. The business partners plan to drop their names from the title when it moves to www.lehighvalleyweatherpatrol.com Even after…

Heavy wet snow on Saturday could cause travel problems and power outages
A rare October snowstorm is expected to hit our area Saturday and could cause travel problems and power outages as heavy, wet snow accumulates on trees still holding their foliage. Upper Saucon Township is included in the winter storm watch for Saturday issued by the National Weather Service. The temperature will drop to about 33 tonight and snow could start falling after 7 a.m. Saturday. Accumulation of four to eight inches is predicted. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. Sunday should be much different with sunny skies and a high of 47. The Lehigh Valley Weather Patrol is another source for local forecasts.
