Drunken Man Nearly 'Fell Into Traffic,' Police Say

Gil Gillespie, 54, of Nazareth was taken into custody after allegedly staggering and stumbling his way down the borough's Main Street.

A Nazareth man with a history of driving under the influence and being drunk in public was taken into custody Thursday afternoon after police allege he almost fell into Main Street traffic.  Gil Gillespie, 54, a Spruce Street resident, was allegedly seen staggering near Belvidere and Main streets, police say. In his accident report, Officer Daniel Troxell said he watched Gillespie step off a curb and almost fall into the path of oncoming vehicles. Troxell notes that Gillespie continued to stagger down S. Main Street and was incapable of walking safely. According to police, Gillespie was slurring his speech and was not cooperative when Troxell asked him questions. Constant drinking is a slow suicide. It doesn't matter much on what happens to him, if he wants to drink, that 's what he'll do, drink. You can't scare a drunk, they have no fear, they just don't care. Sounds like the wife is his enabler. That's just as bad as being the drunk.   more ›

Nazareth Councilman Pleads Guilty to Public Drunkenness, Records say

Christian Audenried, Nazareth's newest councilman, pleaded guilty to a summary charge of public drunkenness on Jan. 24, court records say.

Nazareth's newest councilman has pleaded guilty to a summary charge of public drunkenness, according to court records. Records also indicate Christian Audenried, who spent more than 10 years on the Nazareth Area School Board, paid a $172.50 fine. One day after Audenried took his newly appointed seat on Nazareth Borough Council, he was allegedly found slumped behind the wheel of his car with a bottle of vodka nearby, according to police. According to Colonial Regional Police Chief Roy Seiple, an officer was dispatched to the area of 859 Nazareth Pike -- Giant Food Stores -- for a report of a 911 hang-up. During a routine check, Officer Christopher Templeton found Audenried slumped over the wheel of his car, which was parked and not running…

Police: Nazareth Councilman Found Drunk in Car with Vodka Nearby

Chris Audenried, a newly appointed Nazareth councilman and longtime Nazareth School Board member, was allegedly found drunk behind the wheel of his car with a bottle of vodka nearby.

One day after Chris Audenried took his newly appointed seat on Nazareth Borough Council, he was allegedly found slumped behind the wheel of his car with a bottle of vodka nearby, according to police. After more than 10 years on the Nazareth Area School Board, Audenried said he was ready to be "part of the solution" for Nazareth Borough and was prepared to handle "fiery arrows." Now he's preparing to face a summary charge of public drunkenness, court records say. The charge was filed Jan. 17 through District Judge Joseph Barner's office in Lower Nazareth Township. Moore Township Man Allegedly Assaults Nazareth Detective

Joseph Marvelli, 54, allegedly punched Det. Fred Lahovski in the face and "attempted to gouge his eyes out," according to police.

A Moore Township man is facing a felony count of aggravated assault -- and other charges -- after he allegedly punched Nazareth Det. Fred Lahovski in the face and "attempted to gouge his eyes out," according to police. After Joseph Marvelli, 54, of the 500 block of Morrison Place was arrested, he was taken to St. Luke's Hospital in Fountain Hill where he punched a hole in the wall and "threatened to assault hospital staff," police say. According to a criminal complaint: Around 6:45 a.m. on Oct. 17, police were called to a home on the 100 block of S. Main Street in Nazareth for a report of a man banging on windows and screaming. First and foremost I feel sorry for Joe. Not only can he not hear but remember hes a deaf man, its says that he was banging on windows and I can only imagine that he was banging on window and screaming for HELP.
