PHOTOS: CVS Opens Near Palmer, Lower Nazareth Border

A new CVS has opened along Route 248 in Palmer Township.

It took some time. But the CVS along Route 248 in Palmer Township -- a stone's throw from the Lower Nazareth Township border -- has finally opened. The pharmacy opened its doors over the weekend in the Northwood Center at the intersection of Route 248 and Northwood Avenue. It had been under construction for some time and appeared ready for the holiday shopping season. The CVS is part of a retail center that will also include a Sheetz gas station/convenience store and also a small strip center for retail businesses. The Sheetz would be the largest in the Lehigh Valley.

Spencer's Added to Palmer Park Mall Roster

Spencer's opens just in time for the holiday shopping season.

The Palmer Park Mall has opened yet another store, just in time for the start of the holiday shopping season, which goes full throttle on Black Friday. Spencer's, a specialty store offering unique gifts and clothes, has opened right next store to Books for Less, another store that just opened in the mall recently. The mall has started to fill vacancies in recent weeks, with the bookstore's arrival and a new toy and game store for kids. The Palmer Township mall, anchored by Boscov's and The Bon-Ton, will open at midnight -- a minute short of Black Friday.

Two New Stores Open at Palmer Park Mall

A new bookstore and a toy store for kids are added to Palmer Park Mall's roster.

When Palmer Park Mall reopened after being closed four straight days due to power outages from Superstorm Sandy, a few things were different. For one, the mall was all decked out for Christmas in anticipation of the holiday shopping season and the arrival of Santa Claus this Saturday. But two of the mall's vacancies were also now filled. A new book store -- Books for Less -- opened in the location where Green Books and Waldenbooks used to be. And the mall also added a popular new toy store, Go! Games and Toys, off of the center court and across from AT&T. There are still several vacancies in the mall, which has been trying to fill open spaces for some time.

With negotiations and renovations wrapped up at the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce's new satellite office in Nazareth, doors are planned to open later this month.

A goal of the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce is to have feet on every Main Street in the Lehigh Valley. Come the end of August, it can place a check mark next to Nazareth. When the chamber announced in April its intentions to open a satellite location in downtown Nazareth, it was still putting the final touches on negotiations for a rental property at the corner of S. Main Street where Ollie’s Travel Desk was once located. Marlyn Kissner, the executive vice president of regional chambers, confirmed to Patch that with the recent completion of negotiations and renovations, the chamber will open its doors at 18 S. Main St. at the end of August. Once settled into the new digs, Kissner added, the chamber will hold a grand opening …
