A new Miracle League Field, the second in the Lehigh Valley, was dedicated Sunday in Palmer Township.
"Play Ball!" After an hour-long dedication ceremony, players took to the new Miracle League field Sunday afternoon in Palmer Township. "There are no strikeouts here, only winners," Northampton County Executive John Stoffa said of the second Miracle League field to open in the Lehigh Valley. (Another field is located in Orefield, Lehigh County.) "May this miracle continue for many years to come." Puritan Products donates $10,000 for Miracle League field
The miracles keep happening for a Palmer Township project that will provide a baseball facility for children with physical and intellectual disabilities. Puritan Products Inc. of Bethlehem is donating $10,000 to the Miracle League of Northampton County to help construct a baseball field that is custom-designed for the special needs of children with physical and intellectual disabilities. The field, located next to the Charles Chrin Community Center off Green Pond Road, is scheduled to open in spring 2012. A capital campaign was launched last year calling for $750,000 to build and operate the field. Donations are needed to make the "field of dreams" a reality.
The Miracle League of Northampton County is hoping to garner enough funds to make the dream of a baseball field for children with disabilities a reality. The land at the Charles Chrin Community Center complex in Palmer Township has been secured with a lease arrangement, the project is well under way and the design plans are complete -- compliments of Finelli Engineering. And the Miracle League board is kicking off its capital campaign this week to raise approximately $750,000 to construct and operate the new facility. I am privileged to be a friend of Adam Taylor (the ribbon-cutter) and his family. He's a great kid (he has free-range chickens and supplies me with my eggs!) and it was a lot of fun seeing all the kids get their "at-bats" yesterday. Nice job by everyone - it's a gorgeous facility.   more ›
