New Patch Editor Pulls into Nazareth

Dino Ciliberti, editor of the Palmer-Forks Patch.com site, is now the new editor of Patch.com's Nazareth site.

"I pulled into Nazareth..." Those first few words were always intriguing. As a Classic Rock historian, I always wondered about this magical place called Nazareth that starts off The Band's "The Weight." It wasn't until I moved to the Lehigh Valley a little more than two years ago that the pieces of the puzzle came together. And there was the building that inspired the song that I spotted when I pulled into Nazareth Friday night. Hello, I'm Dino Ciliberti, the new editor of Patch.com's Nazareth site. To say I remember, hum and sing all of these Classic Rock songs should tell you that I'm a little older than past Patch.com Nazareth Editor Mallory Vough. OK, I'm a lot older...actually turning 47 in June. So groups like the Eagles, The Band, …

The Chamber and The Frederick Group will present the award at The Lehigh Valley Commercial Real Estate Outlook and Awards Luncheon on April 18. Martin Guitar opened its distribution center—located in the former Famous Smoke Shop building on Conroy Place—in March 2012. A focus of the newly renovated building was energy conservation. The facility boasts lighting controlled by motion detectors, increased insulation, bicycle racks in its parking area and a walking path—all of which allowed Martin Guitar to apply for Bronze Level LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental) Certification. Jimmy Fallon belts out a fun Presidents Day song -- with help from his Martin Guitar -- during a recent 'Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.'

The folks at C.F. Martin & Co. were thrilled to see one of its handmade guitars featured on "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon." During his show Friday night, Fallon pulled out a Martin Guitar and performed a Presidents Day song. WARNING: Content may not be suitable for workplace viewing. Following Fallon's performance, Martin Guitar tweeted, "Funniest man on TV, @JimmyFallon of @LateNightJimmy, performing his President's Day song on his Martin. Awesome." This isn't Martin Guitar's first late-night appearance. In August 2012, Jeff Daniels introduced the OM Jeff Daniels to all of America during an appearance on Conan. Upper Nazareth Township is home to Martin Guitar's corporate headquarters, which features a Martin Visitors Center, Guitar Museum…

Jeff Daniels Performs on Conan with Custom Martin Guitar

Jeff Daniels belts out "The Dirty Harry Blues" -- with help from his custom OM Jeff Daniels Martin Guitar -- during a recent appearance on Conan.

In early June, Upper Nazareth-based C.F. Martin & Co. introduced a new Custom Artist Edition Guitar, the OM Jeff Daniels, which was designed in collaboration with the award-winning film and stage actor. Exciting? Absolutely! Last week, however, the "Dumb and Dumber" actor introduced the OM Jeff Daniels to all of America -- well, to those not glued to the Olympics -- during an appearance on Conan. Exciting just went up a few more notches to EXCITING. Around the 2:21 mark, Daniels picks up his guitar, which was situated behind Conan O'brien's desk. He explains to Conan and the studio audience that the instrument he's holding is not just any guitar -- it's the OM Jeff Daniels, made by Martin Guitar. He then proceeds to belt out "The Dirty …

Martin On Main a Resounding Success Despite Deluge of Moisture

A rain-shortened Martin On Main doesn't take away the success of the event's first four hours, which featured musicians from The Unofficial Martin Guitar Forum.

For about four hours Saturday, over 3,000 people -- from as far away as England -- packed into downtown Nazareth for the 5th annual Martin On Main. Presented by the Nazareth Area Chamber of Commerce, the event celebrated the one-and-only Martin Guitar with live music, delicious food, over 20 artisan vendors and much more. And then... Mother Nature offered a deluge of moisture. Martin On Main attendees ran for cover, huddling under tents and awnings. While thunder boomed in the direction of Easton -- heading soon for Nazareth -- a musician broke out his guitar and performed under the dry safety of Dominion Mortgage's porch. Unfortunately, for the second year in a row, the event ended early due to the uncertainty of Mother Nature's mood …

Martin Guitar Expands Use of DNA Technology to Include Strings

In a continuing effort to fight counterfeiters, Martin Guitar expands DNA marking to protect and authenticate its guitar strings.

C.F. Martin Guitar Company announced in August 2011 that cutting-edge technology would be used to help ensure that one of the world’s oldest and most respected musical brands -- based in Upper Nazareth Township -- stays pure. With an agreement in place with Applied DNA Sciences, or APDN, every new Martin Guitar is marked with a distinctive “DNA” pattern or “tag” that cannot be duplicated by counterfeiters. But what about the millions of guitar strings produced each year at Martin Guitar's factory in Navojoa, Mexico? Those, too, will have DNA markings, according to an announcement made Wednesday. "We continue to work with Applied DNA Sciences on developing this program, first with our custom guitars, which have now extended to our laminates…

Martin Guitar Introduces Jeff Daniels Custom Guitar

The Martin OM Jeff Daniels Custom Artist Edition, designed in collaboration with the award-winning film and stage actor, retails for $4,999.

Upper Nazareth-based C. F. Martin & Co. recently introduced a Custom Artist Edition Guitar, the OM Jeff Daniels, which was designed in collaboration with the award-winning film and stage actor. In 2001 the "Dumb and Dumber" actor started playing a 1934 Martin C-2 archtop. The broken top had been replaced with a soundboard of Adirondack spruce, in effect converting it into an Orchestra Model (OM), according to a press release. That guitar became Daniels’ constant companion in the studio and on stage and it became the template for the Martin OM Jeff Daniels Custom Artist Edition. “My new OM looks great and it has terrific balance all the way up the fretboard,” Daniels said in the press release. “I’m noticing a solid low end that my original …
