PetSmart to Join Retailers on Northampton Crossings’ Signpost

The Lower Nazareth Zoning Hearing Board votes to allow expansion of PetSmart's road sign along Route 248.

With the impending move of PetSmart into the Northampton Crossings shopping center, the size of signage became a minor hurdle that the company cleared Tuesday night. Representatives for the pet supplies and accessories store approached the Lower Nazareth Zoning Hearing Board for a variance on a 25-foot-tall sign along Route 248. Speaking on behalf of store owners Gemstone Resources L.P. and Wallingford One Holdings L.P. were Jerrold Bermingham, executive vice president for National Realty and Development Corp., and Richard Crawford, president of Mercer Sign Consultants. Supervisors Approve Liquor License for LongHorn Steakhouse

Since all of Lower Nazareth Township's liquor licenses are in use, LongHorn Steakhouse had to transfer a license from outside the township and be granted approval.

There was no public comment Wednesday during a brief hearing before supervisors voted on the liquor license request. According to township Manager Timm Tenges, the steakhouse had to transfer a license from outside Lower Nazareth since all of the licenses in the township are in use. The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board controls the distribution of liquor licenses, Tenges previously explained, and since the restaurant is not headquartered in Pennsylvania, the PLCB asks municipalities to approve or decline liquor licenses. “It’s so …

Snyder’s-Lance Inc. Gets Final Approval to Double in Size

The Lower Nazareth Board of Supervisors approved the plans that will allow Snyder’s-Lance Inc. to double the size of its distribution center.

No bite-sized portions here. Local snack food distributor, Snyder’s-Lance Inc., received approval Wednesday night to double the size of its distribution center by 6,000 square feet. The Lower Nazareth Board of Supervisors approved the plans, which had originally been for a 7,500-square-foot addition. Snyder’s-Lance currently operates out of a 6,000-square-foot building on a 2.2-acre lot on Selvaggio Drive. Snyder’s of Hanover, headquartered in Hanover, Pa., built its facility in 1993, Paul Szewczak, a principal at Liberty Engineering in Allentown, explained to the township's Zoning Hearing Board in December. When the company built the distribution center, it also went ahead and planned for a future 7,500-square-foot expansion, he said. The…
