First Niagara Bank Donates $5,000 to Nazareth Area Community

First Niagara Bank's $5,000 donation will enable the Nazareth Area Chamber of Commerce to make donations to the local food bank and soup kitchen.

First Niagara Bank recently made a $5,000 donation to the Nazareth Area Chamber of Commerce. The money will be used for chamber event sponsorships throughout the year, including the annual dinner dance and the annual clambake. The donation also will enable the chamber and the bank to make a donation of $750 to the Nazareth Area Food Bank and a $750 donation to The Loaves & Fishes Soup Kitchen. "I am very pleased that my employer First Niagara Bank has made this generous donation," said Lance Colondo, First Niagara Bank assistant vice president and branch manager. 'Christmas in Nazareth,' 'Night of Lights' to be Held Dec. 15

'Christmas in Nazareth' will be held from 1-9 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15; 'Night of Lights' will follow when the sun goes down.

"Christmas in Nazareth" will be held from 1-9 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, and Nazareth Borough is offering free parking at downtown parking meters. The day's features will include: Tickets -- $10 for adults, $5 for youth under 16 -- can be purchased at one of the following venues: Moravian Historical Society, Memorial Library of Nazareth and Vicinity, and Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce. Buy Halloween Luminaries for Nazareth's 'Night of Lights'

Some of the proceeds from Halloween luminaries will benefit local non-profit organizations, including the Nazareth Area Food Bank and the Loaves & Fishes Soup Kitchen.

Own a business or home in the Nazareth area? If you answered with a "yes," you're invited to help light up your town on Wednesday, Oct. 31 -- Halloween night. "Night of Lights" is being held the same night as Trick-or-Treat in Nazareth, Upper Nazareth Township, Lower Nazareth Township, Bushkill Township, Stockertown and Tatamy. Halloween luminaries can be purchased for $12. Loaves & Fishes to Offer Lunches During Summer

During the summer months, the Loaves & Fishes Soup Kitchen will provide healthy lunches for Nazareth area students who receive free or subsidized lunches during the school year.

The Loaves & Fishes Soup Kitchen will provide free lunch this summer for Nazareth area students who receive free or subsidized lunches at public schools. The expansion of services will begin at the end of June and will end when school resumes at the end of August. A Loaves & Fishes "tent" will be set up -- from noon to 2 p.m., Monday through Friday -- at the ball field located at the corner of N. Green Street and W. Center Street, next to Nazareth Borough Council Chambers. A healthy brown-bag lunch will be served. Loaves & Fishes Soup Kitchen to Serve Every Saturday

With the addition of the Nazareth Moravian Church to the soup kitchen's roster, meals will be served to residents of Nazareth and Bath every Saturday of the month.

The Loaves & Fishes Soup Kitchen, which serves the residents of Nazareth and Bath, will now be offering meals every Saturday of the month. The soup kitchen opened on Nov. 13, 2010 at Christ UCC Church in Bath, serving residents on the second Saturday. As the need grew, the first Saturday was added to the kitchen's schedule. Volunteers at St. John's UCC in Nazareth began serving in 2011. Now in the New Year, Nazareth Moravian Church has joined the soup kitchen's roster, serving area residents on the fifth Saturday of the month, when applicable. Souper Tasting Event to Benefit Soup Kitchen

Funds raised during the 2nd Annual Souper Tasting event at Barbara's Treasures will be donated to the Loaves & Fishes Soup Kitchen.

The 2nd Annual Souper Tasting event at Barbara's Treasures will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 14. In addition to a $5 donation that will be collected at the door, 10 percent of all purchases will be donated to the Loaves & Fishes Soup Kitchen, which serves hot meals to residents in the Nazareth and Bath areas.
