Police: Hit-and-Run Driver was High on Pot, Antidepressants

Keith Lego, 19, of Altoona had marijuana and three kinds of antidepressants in his system when he allegedly caused a two-car crash at the Northampton Crossings shopping center.

A 19-year-old Altoona man has been charged with causing an accident at the Northampton Crossings shopping center two months ago that became a hit and run when he allegedly left in a damaged pickup. Keith Chester Lego is also charged with driving the pickup under the influence of marijuana and three kinds of antidepressants, driving with a suspended license, and driving the pickup without the consent of the owner -- his mother’s boyfriend whose address is in Forks Township. The accident near Starbucks in the Lower Nazareth Township shopping center was on the afternoon of Nov. 7, a Wednesday and the day after Election Day. A criminal complaint was filed Dec. 11, and Lego was arraigned Wednesday and committed to Northampton County Prison. The…

Police: Two-Car Crash at Northampton Crossings Caused by DUI Driver

Police say witnesses to a two-car crash at the Northampton Crossings were able to note the offending vehicle's license plate number and even followed the driver as he fled north on Route 33.

A 19-year-old Altoona man admitted to smoking marijuana before crashing his car into another vehicle at the Northampton Crossings shopping center and then fleeing north on Route 33, according to police. In addition to marijuana, police say, a blood test showed Keith Lego had multiple medications in his system during the Nov. 7 incident. Colonial Regional Police was dispatched around 1 p.m. to the Lower Nazareth Township shopping center for a motor vehicle accident. According to police, the vehicle that allegedly caused the accident left the scene, but witnesses were able to note the license plate number and even followed the vehicle as the driver fled north on Route 33.
