Gracedale Worker Went on Drunken Food Run, Police Say

Tiffany Jacoby, 25, of Palmerton, had a .18 percent blood-alcohol content when she became lost trying to pick up food for herself and her Gracedale Nursing Home colleagues.

A Gracedale employee was arrested March 4 on drunken driving charges after she got lost—for two hours—while on a food errand. Tiffany Jacoby, 25, of Palmerton, had a .18 percent blood-alcohol content when, at 2:22 a.m., Lower Saucon Township police spotted her parked car in the middle of a township road. According to police, Jacoby said she was headed for Wawa to pick up food for herself and her Gracedale colleagues.  The nearest Wawa to Gracedale, the county nursing home in Upper Nazareth Township, is in nearby Lower Nazareth Township. The trip, according to MapQuest, is about three miles. While Jacoby spoke with police, a strong odor of alcohol was detected and Jacoby showed signs of impairment. Drunken Driver Parked Car in Stranger's Back Yard, Police Say

Frederick Sandt, 45, of Bethlehem Township, is facing drunken driving charges after he allegedly parked his car in a Lower Nazareth man's back yard.

A Bethlehem Township man is facing drunken driving charges after he allegedly parked his car in a stranger’s back yard. A homeowner on Cobblestone Lane in Lower Nazareth Township called police around 10:24 p.m. March 1 to report a vehicle—one he did not recognize—in his back yard. When police arrived, 45-year-old Frederick Sandt was found sitting in the back seat of his vehicle. Sandt identified himself as the driver, police say. In a press release, Colonial Regional Officer Andy Laudenslager notes that Sandt showed extreme signs of intoxication, had a difficult time walking, and smelled of alcohol when he spoke.  Sandt was taken to the Easton DUI Center for processing. Repeat DUI Offender Almost Hit Cruiser, Police Say

Zachary David Cardwell, 23, of Bethlehem Township, is charged with his second DUI after almost hitting a Plainfield Township police car when his 2000 Volkswagen Jetta crossed the center line.

A man whose driver’s license expired almost four years ago and wasn’t even supposed to be driving because of a plea agreement is facing driving under the influence and other charges connected to an October traffic stop in Plainfield Township. Court records say the car driven by Zachary David Cardwell, 23, almost hit a Plainfield Township police car when it went into the opposing lane of travel before being stopped early on Oct. 7 on the 500 block of Clyde Street off Sullivan Trail in the Belfast section of Plainfield. Cardwell, who is also accused of having an expired registration, is facing two counts of DUI – one for allegedly having a blood-alcohol level of .16 percent or higher. State Police Report 13 Killed, 349 Injured Over Holiday Weekend

Overall, 86 of the 1,124 total crashes during the official holiday driving period -- Nov. 21 through Nov. 25 -- were alcohol-related.

HARRISBURG -- Thirteen people were killed in crashes investigated by state troopers during the five-day Thanksgiving holiday driving period, State Police Commissioner Frank Noonan announced this week. In addition to the 13 fatalities, 349 people were injured in 1,124 crashes troopers responded to during the official holiday driving period, Wednesday, Nov. 21, through Sunday, Nov. 25. Five of the people killed were not wearing seat belts and two of the 13 fatal crashes were alcohol-related. Overall, 86 of the 1,124 total crashes were alcohol-related. Alcohol may have played a role in a Friday morning car accident that ended with the vehicle striking a Lower Nazareth Township home, according to Colonial Regional Police. Around 8:20 a.m., Reed Markovitz, 19, of the 200 block of Broad Street in Tatamy, lost control of a white Chevrolet Camaro while traveling south on Nazareth Pike (Route 191). According to police, the car went for a wild ride: The Camaro first crossed into the northbound lane, skidded sideways and then returned to the southbound lane. Men Accused of Threatening Nazareth Motorists with Pellet Gun

The pellet gun brandished by two Bethlehem area men, who were allegedly drunk, closely resembled an M-16 assault rifle, according to Nazareth police.

Two Bethlehem area men are accused of driving drunk on Route 191 in Nazareth and pointing a pellet gun -- that closely resembled an M-16 assault rifle -- at passersby, according to Nazareth police. Police: Driver Perplexed by Car's Flip

Douglas Trinkley, of Bath, was allegedly driving drunk when he struck a parked pickup truck -- flipping his car -- on the 200 block of Mauch Chunk Street in Nazareth Friday night.

When asked by a Nazareth police officer which direction their vehicle was traveling before it struck a parked pickup truck and flipped onto its roof, two Bath men pointed in opposite directions, police say. Charges of driving under the influence and careless driving will be filed against Douglas Trinkley, 33, pending results from the Easton DUI Center. According to a breaking news alert, Trinkley was treated for a head injury. There was also a passenger, Jason Milburn, 30. Man, Prosecutors Reach Deal in Upper Nazareth Car Chase

A Lehigh Township man accused of leading Upper Nazareth Township police on an early-morning car chase in March had a blood-alcohol content of .20 percent when the events unfolded.

A deal was reached in the case against a Lehigh Township man who -- while driving with a blood-alcohol content of .20 percent -- allegedly led Upper Nazareth Township police on a car chase that ended in swampy woods.
