Audenried, Troxell Vie for Borough Council Seat

Chris Audenried and Richard Troxell are vying for one four-year seat in the borough's Ward 1.

A recently filled Nazareth Borough Council seat will again be up for grabs, and two newcomers are vying for it. Chris Audenried, who in December was unanimously appointed to fill a seat left vacant by the Rev. William Matz, wants residents to elect him for four more years. Matz was in the third year of his third term. Audenried, a Republican, will serve out the remainder of his term, which expires at the end of 2013. Audenried's competitor for the open Ward 1 seat is Richard Troxell, a Democrat who has lived in the Nazareth Area School District since 1981—five of those years were spent living in Bushkill Township. Troxell, 60, grew up in Easton and graduated from Easton Area High School in 1971. His wife, Pat, and two sons graduated from …

Council Mum After Resident's Call for Apologies, Accountability

A Nazareth resident's impassioned plea for accountability and apologies from two Nazareth Borough Council members fails to resonate.

When a borough resident asked for an apology and some accountability from two Nazareth Borough Council members who recently found themselves on the wrong side of the law, she was told, "He who lives in a glass house shouldn't throw stones." Monday night's eight-member Council -- Councilwoman Cynthia Werner was absent -- remained silent during Korine Behler's impassioned plea. "What I see is a lack of morals and a lack of leadership," she said. "When you take [a position on Council], there are standards you should be held to." Behler added that Council members Larry Stoudt and Christian Audenried "made an embarrassment out of Nazareth." Audenried, who was tapped to replace Rev. William Matz, pleaded guilty Jan. 24 to a summary charge of …

Christian Audenried, Nazareth's newest councilman, pleaded guilty to a summary charge of public drunkenness on Jan. 24, court records say.

Nazareth's newest councilman has pleaded guilty to a summary charge of public drunkenness, according to court records. Records also indicate Christian Audenried, who spent more than 10 years on the Nazareth Area School Board, paid a $172.50 fine. One day after Audenried took his newly appointed seat on Nazareth Borough Council, he was allegedly found slumped behind the wheel of his car with a bottle of vodka nearby, according to police. According to Colonial Regional Police Chief Roy Seiple, an officer was dispatched to the area of 859 Nazareth Pike -- Giant Food Stores -- for a report of a 911 hang-up. During a routine check, Officer Christopher Templeton found Audenried slumped over the wheel of his car, which was parked and not running…

Police: Nazareth Councilman Found Drunk in Car with Vodka Nearby

Chris Audenried, a newly appointed Nazareth councilman and longtime Nazareth School Board member, was allegedly found drunk behind the wheel of his car with a bottle of vodka nearby.

One day after Chris Audenried took his newly appointed seat on Nazareth Borough Council, he was allegedly found slumped behind the wheel of his car with a bottle of vodka nearby, according to police. After more than 10 years on the Nazareth Area School Board, Audenried said he was ready to be "part of the solution" for Nazareth Borough and was prepared to handle "fiery arrows." Now he's preparing to face a summary charge of public drunkenness, court records say. The charge was filed Jan. 17 through District Judge Joseph Barner's office in Lower Nazareth Township. Dominic A. Villani to Fill Vacant Nazareth School Board Seat

Dominic A. Villani, a retired educator from Upper Nazareth Township, is chosen to fill a vacant Nazareth School Board seat.

After five candidate interviews and a failed motion to table a decision, the Nazareth Area School Board has filled a seat left vacant by Chris Audenried, who resigned from his post after he was appointed to Nazareth Borough Council. A 7-1 vote locked the seat for retired educator Dominic A. Villani of Upper Nazareth Township. He will finish Audenried’s unexpired term, which ends next November. Board member Jerry Treon voted in favor of Zackary Audenried, the son of Chris Audenried.  Villani told the board that he spent six years inside the Nazareth Area School District when he was hired as a facilities consultant. He worked for D’Huy Engineering Inc. for 10 years. “I found Nazareth to be a very warm community,” he said. “I found the …

Chris Audenried Tapped to Fill Vacant Nazareth Borough Council Seat

Audenried, a current member of the Nazareth Area School Board, was appointed Thursday night to fill council seat left vacant by the Rev. William Matz.

After more than 10 years on the Nazareth Area School Board, Chris Audenried is ready to be "part of the solution" for Nazareth Borough and prepared to handle "fiery arrows." Nazareth Borough Council unanimously appointed Audenried to fill a seat left vacant by the Rev. William Matz. Audenried will resign from his school board seat. Matz and his wife, who has a spinal ailment, have moved to a Bethlehem retirement community so his wife can get the care she needs, Council President Dan Chiavaroli said at the Nov. 29 Council workshop. Matz, a Republican from the First Ward, was in the third year of his third term. Audenried will serve out the remainder of his term, which expires at the end of 2013. Audenried and Terry Lee Fehr were the only …
