Baseball All-Stars to Compete in Carpenter Cup
High School baseball all-stars from across the Lehigh Valley set to compete in annual Carpenter Cup Classic in Philadelphia.
Sixteen teams of high school baseball all-stars from the Tri-State area around Philadelphia -- including the Lehigh Valley -- begin competing today in the annual Carpenter Cup Classic at Ashburn Field in FDR Park in Philadelphia. The Lehigh Valley high school all-stars are scheduled to play Mercer County, N.J., Monday afternoon at 12:30 p.m. for their first appearance in the single-elimination tournament. The Lehigh Valley team won the 2011 tournament, defeating Burlington County, N.J., in the championship game at Citizens Bank Park. It was the third Carpenter Cup Lehigh Valley all-stars took home, having also won in 1998 and 2001.
