Nazareth School Board Recognizes AP Scholars, Teachers

The full list of AP Scholars and teachers recognized at Monday's Nazareth Area School Board meeting.

The Nazareth Area School Board honored AP students and teachers at its meeting and many of them were present to exchange congratulatory handshakes with board members. The district -- for the second-straight year -- was named an AP District of the Year. Nazareth is one of 37 such districts in Pennsylvania and 539 nationwide. One name that again popped up was Colin Henderson, one of three Blue Eagles in the National AP Scholars category for 2011-2012. The scholars received an average score of at least a 4 (on a 0-5 scale, with 5 as the highest) on all AP exams taken and scores of 4 or higher on eight or more of these exams. Nazareth Area School District Again Named to AP Honor Roll

For the second time in as many years, Nazareth Area School District was named to the AP Honor Roll; NASD is the only district in the Lehigh Valley to receive the distinction.

Honor students and Advanced Placement teachers in the Nazareth Area School District did it again. High school Principal Alan Davis announced this week the district has been named to the 3rd Annual AP Honor Roll. A record 539 public school districts in the U.S. and Canada received the recognition, according to www.collegeboard.org. The award is given to districts that increase the number of students taking the college-level classes while simultaneously maintaining or increasing the percentage of students achieving a 3 or higher out of a possible 5 on AP exams. Nazareth is the only district in the Lehigh Valley to make the Honor Roll. The students and teachers who helped the district achieve this honor will be recognized at the Dec. 10 …

Nazareth Area School District Named to AP Honor Roll

No other school district in the area received the distinction.

To the applause of honor students and Advanced Placement teachers, Nazareth Area High School Principal Alan Davis announced this week the district has been named to the 2nd Annual AP Honor Roll. Only 367 public school districts nationwide received the recognition, Davis said. The award is given to districts that increase the number of students taking the college-level classes while simultaneously maintaining or increasing the percentage of students achieving a 3 or higher out of a possible 5 on AP exams. “Since 2009, the Nazareth Area School District increased the number of students' participation in AP from 103 to 143, while increasing the percentage of AP students earning a 3 or higher from 83 percent in 2009 to 84 percent in 2011,” …
