Soapbox Derby Brings 'Racing Back to Nazareth'

The 5th Annual Nazareth Adult Soapbox Derby was held on Cinco de Mayo; trophies were awarded to the drivers with the best three times.

As the Nazareth Adult Soapbox Racing Association promised, it once again brought racing back to Nazareth. The 5th Annual Nazareth Adult Soapbox Derby was held Saturday at W. Prospect Street in downtown Nazareth. There were 39 registrants. Trophies were awarded to the drivers with the best three times. For the second year in a row, Jeff Bartron took the top trophy. Jason Calandra took second place, and Rob Leiser took third place. At the end of each heat, the cars were lined up and those in attendance voted for their favorite. This fourth winner -- Kris Sebring -- was dubbed the “Crowd-Pleaser.”

The Sports Authority Offers the Best Sporting Goods

Your voices -- and votes -- have been heard: The Sports Authority is the place to go in Nazareth Patch for sporting goods.

The results are in and The Sports Authority in Lower Nazareth Township offers the best sporting goods in Nazareth Patch. The Sports Authority received 45 percent of the votes and edged out Wal-Mart and Mike's Bait & Sport Shop, which both had a strong showing -- only one vote separated second and third place. In addition to sporting goods, The Sports Authority features a golf simulator and a bike tech/ski and snowboarding shop. You can also purchase ski and snowboarding leases, and licenses for hunting and fishing. The Sports Authority is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Check back Monday for our next poll: Who serves up the best French fries in Nazareth Patch?

Lower Nazareth Wildcat Sign-Ups for 2012 Season

Everything parents need to know before their child can participate in the Lower Nazareth Wildcats football and cheerleading program.

The Lower Nazareth Wildcats football and cheerleading program will hold sign-ups for the 2012 season during the following dates and times: Sign-ups will take place in the Lower Nazareth Township Municipal Building. Unless already on file, a copy of the child's birth certificate is required at time of registration. All children meeting the following requirements effective Sept. 1, 2012 are eligible to participate in the program: Football - Ages 5 to 13 Cheerleading Competitive Cheerleading Sign-Up Fees: There will be a mandatory fundraiser of six calendars per household. The calendars cost $5 each. For More Information: The Lower Nazareth Wildcats will be paying all non-resident township fees this season.
