Farmers Market, Movie, Tomatofest on Tap This Weekend

This weekend is last one before Nazareth Area School District starts classes Monday.

The last weekend of summer is unofficially the Labor Day weekend.

But with school starting Monday, this weekend marks the last chance of summer fun for those attending the Nazareth Area School District.

  • The Nazareth Farmers Market is in full swing on Center Court in downtown Nazareth with all kinds of booths, food and live entertainment.
  • If you like baseball, Forks Township will be showing its last movie in its Movies in the Park series. It's the movie "42," the story of baseball legend Jackie Robinson. For more information, click here.
  • There's an open house and recycling event in Tatamy. See the calendar of events for details.
  • If you like garage and yard sales, there's a slew of them Saturday. See our calendar of events for more information.
  • The biggest event this weekend is the annual TomatoFest. From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., the market will focus on "summer’s finest fruit," with a series of competitions.
Home growers can compete to see who has the biggest, ugliest and best tasting tomatoes. Local bartenders will try to make the best Bloody Mary. And from 10 a.m. until noon there's the Market Marinara Contest.
