The is looking for volunteers to help plan, develop, plant and harvest fresh vegetables in a new garden.
The vegetables that are grown will be distributed to the clients of the food bank, which helps about 300 families and individuals in the Nazareth Area School District each month.
The garden will be in an area at Delaware and S. Main streets, across the street from the food bank. Essroc Cement Co. is allowing the food bank to use this property for development of the garden.
Anyone with an interest in gardening or wanting to learn more about growing fresh vegetables is encouraged to participate. The success of this project will be in large part up to the willingness of the community to act as volunteers to develop and maintain the garden.
The first work day will be Saturday, June 2 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information or to sign up, contact Les Little at (610) 759-6414.
