Obituary: Robert H. Keck, 89, of Nazareth

Robert H. Keck, 89, of Nazareth, died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012, at Moravian Hall Square.

Robert H. Keck, 89, of Nazareth, died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012, at Moravian Hall Square. For 66 years he was married to Anita M. (Knecht) Keck who died on Dec. 20, 2011.

Born in Lower Nazareth Township, Robert was the son of the late Harrison and Hester (Fogel) Keck.

He was a sales manager for the Keystone Cement Co. in Bath for over 20 years before retiring in January of 1991. In conjunction with his work, he was a member and former officer of the Ready Mix Concrete Association and the Pennsylvania Aggregate Concrete Association (PACA).

In his community, Robert was a Deacon, Elder and member of the men's choir at St. John's United Church of Christ, Nazareth. He was director and trustee of the Nazareth YMCA for 25 years, and also a charter member and past president of the former Nazareth Jaycees.

In the last few years he was a board member of Moravian Hall Square. A Master Mason with Whitfield Blue Lodge #622, Tatamy, he was a 32nd Degree Mason and member of the Lehigh Consistory-Valley of Allentown. He was also a Rajah Shriner and involved for several years with the Tin-Lizzies.

He earned his Bachelor's Degree in 1947 from Muhlenberg College, and also served his country as a Lieutenant in the Navy during World War II.

Survivors:

  • Three daughters: Barbara A. Abel of Nazareth, Constance L. wife of Mark Tiefel of Sierra Vista, AZ, Jane E. wife of Craig Beesecker of West Chester, PA
  • One son: Robert H. Keck, Jr. and wife Melinda of Kent, CT
  • Six granddaughters: Kendra, Andrea, Jill, Jodi, Bethany and Sarah
  • Three great-grandchildren: Selena, Michael and Heath
  • He was predeceased by his brother Wayne R. Keck in April

Services:

Memorial services are scheduled for 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2012, at Moravian Hall Square-Kortz Hall, 175 W. North Street, Nazareth. Arrangements are being handled by Bartholomew-Schisler Funeral Home, Inc., 211 E. Center Street, Nazareth. The Rev. Curtis G. Kemmerer will officiate the services. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
