Nazareth's Bike Fest Nets $900 for Food Bank

Revenue from the motorcycle show at Nazareth's first-ever Bike Fest netted a $900 donation for the Nazareth Area Food Bank.

"Everyone involved on the [Bike Fest] committee was thrilled to have such a wonderful turnout for the event, and we are happy to support our local charities in need," said President Tina Smith in a press release.

Smith and President Carl Strye Jr. presented the donation Wednesday to the food bank's director, Jim Byrnes, and chairwoman, Cindy Hunt.

The food bank assists about 300 local families and individuals every month.

Eric Heckman spearheaded the bike show, which made the donation possible. The show featured three prize categories: nostalgic, custom and antique.

  • Second: Jason Gerstenberg of Nazareth

ANTIQUE

  • First: Rick Noversel of Tatamy
  • Second: Mike Petrie

NOSTALGIC

  • First: Bill Keeves
  • Second: Mark Kolb of Nazareth

In addition to the show, live bands performed throughout the day. There was also a food court, a beer garden and various craft vendors. Several non-profit organizations were also in attendance.

The event was hosted by the Nazareth Area Chamber of Commerce and Vigilance Hose Co. No. 1.
