Nazareth Area Middle School Students to Whistle for Guinness World Record

Donations to be collected for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Greater Pennsylvania during record-breaking attempt.

Tomorrow afternoon, Cameron Ohrwashel, an 8th grader at , will attempt to break a Guinness World Record -- with the assistance of a few hundred whistlers.

NAMS and The Make-A-Wish® Club will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the most people whistling simultaneously at a single venue.

The current record is 329 people, but Ohrwashel thinks there are enough kids in his school to easily break that record.

Not a student? Not a problem! According to Monique Ohrwashel, the boy's mother, members of the public are more than welcome to attend to help smash the record.

Because the event occurs the Friday before Memorial Day, “America the Beautiful,” “God Bless America” and “Yankee Doodle” will be whistled in honor of area veterans.

Donations will be collected to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Greater Pennsylvania, Pottsville Regional Office.

And for those curious folks out there, this is the real deal. The whistling attempt will be be recorded and pictures will be taken. All of these materials (and more) will be sent to Guinness World Records Limited -- stationed in London -- for validation purposes.

In addition, community volunteers and two public officials will be on hand to act as official witnesses of the event.  The two public officials will be Alan Siegfried, chief of police, and Mike Rinker, chairman of the Upper Nazareth Township Board of Supervisors.
