Library to Offer 'Food for Fines' Jan. 9-14

The Nazareth Area Food Bank will benefit from the upcoming 'Food for Fines' week at The Memorial Library of Nazareth and Vicinity.

Do you have overdue library fines looming over your head? Fret no more.

will be offering "Food for Fines" from Monday, Jan. 9 to Saturday, Jan. 14.

The will be the recipient of all food collected during "Food for Fines" week.

Here's how it works:

  • Members of the library will get $1 waived for each can or package of food donated.
  • Items currently needed are peanut butter and canned meats, like tuna, spam and stew.
  • Outdated food items will not be accepted.
  • Replacement fees for lost or damaged materials, fees for losses that are in billing or collection stages, and lost card fees are not subject to being waived during "Food for Fines."

The library is open Monday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Tuesday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
