Community Concert to Feature Patriotic Songs and Marches

Two Lehigh Valley bands will perform at Nazareth Area High School on March 4; ticket holders will also get a free look inside the Whitefield House Museum.

"" is the theme of a March 4 concert that will bring together two Lehigh Valley community bands. The concert, which will feature patriotic songs and marches, will begin at 3 p.m. and will be held in the auditorium.

Tickets are $10.

Helping to bring out the public's patriotism will be the Nazareth Community Band, directed by Ralph Brodt, and the Allentown Band, directed by Ronald Demkee. Each band will play individual pieces before performing together.

The concert will begin with an arrangement of the Star-Spangled Banner by Jack Stamp, a professor at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. This particular arrangement is special because all royalties benefit victims of 9/11, according to a press release.

The bands will also play:

  • "Flight of Valor," a memorial to the victims of Flight 93.
  • Marches by John Philip Sousa
  • Selections from "1776" and "The Patriot"
  • "1812 Overture"
  • Narrators for selected pieces will be Rev. David Schaeffer, pastor of , and Emile Guida.

The concert is being organized by the . Proceeds will support community needs and organizations.

Tickets are $10 and are available in advance from the , , and from any Rotarian. Tickets will be available at the door on the day of the concert.

Before the concert, ticket holders will receive free admission to the Whitefield House Museum from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.
