Two-Hour Delay for Nazareth Schools Friday

School officials expressed concern about students and the extremely low temperatures that are forecast.

Nazareth will have a two-hour delayed opening again on Friday, with officials citing the frigid temperatures and concerns for student welfare.

"It is very unfortunate that Mother Nature has not been as friendly this year with snow and temperature situations," Dr. Dennis Riker, schools superintendent, wrote in a letter to parents on Wednesday afternoon. "Members of our community should understand that decisions to open and close schools take into consideration numerous factors; including the demographics of our area, student drivers, and student walkers.  The safety of our children and staff is our number one priority."

Riker asked that parents ensure that their children are dressed in weather-appropriate clothing, and that they enter school buildings upon arrival.

School offices will also open two hours late on Friday.

Nazareth students were sent home early Tuesday. There was no school on Wednesday. There was also a two-hour delay on Thursday.
