Photos of the Day: Chuck Dibilio Recognized for his Academic and Athletic Accomplishments

Chuck Dibilio, a senior at , was recognized for his athletic and academic accomplishments at Monday night’s borough council meeting.

Calling Dibilio “a once-in-a-generation student-athlete,” Mayor Fred Daugherty commended the Princeton-bound student.

"Every so often, a young person comes into our midst that makes you say 'wow,’” he said.  “Not honoring him would be a travesty."

A quick round up of Dibilio’s athletic accomplishments:

Football:

• He holds the record for career rushing yards at Nazareth Area High School with 4,366 and was named the Lehigh Valley Conference's Offensive MVP.

Basketball:

• He scored 1,375 points in basketball and was named VIA’s 2011 Basketball Scholar Athlete.

“Dibilio’s play embodies the spirit of Nazareth, an unrelenting and dogged determination to succeed at any cost, and his successes will set a seemingly unapproachable mark for those who follow,” reads a resolution recognizing the local student.  “Those who have taught and coached this much heralded young man marvel at his character, demeanor and the example he sets for other students and athletes, all the while remaining dignified and humble.”
