Nazareth Area High School has scored 11 Freddy Award nominations Thursday for their school plays. Meanwhile, Bangor Area High School received four nominations.

Nazareth's nominations included outstanding performances by an actress and actor in a leading role.

Meanwhile, Vanessa Ruggiero received three nominations for her work in "Anything Goes."

Bangor's "Annie" garned four nominations for best stage crew and orchestra and best performance by a small ensemble and best supporting actor role.

Nazareth's nominations are:

  • Outstanding performance by an orchestra. ("Anything Goes")
  • Outstanding performance by an actress in a leading role. (Vanessa Ruggiero as Reno Sweeny in "Anything Goes.")
  • Outstanding performance by an actor in a leading role. (Zachary Esposito as Billy Crocker in "Anything Goes.")
  • Outstanding overall production of a musical. ("Anything Goes")
  • Outstanding production number. ("Anything Goes")
  • Outstanding choreography. ("Anything Goes")
  • Outstanding Performance by Actor in a Supporting Role. (Braxton White as Moonface Martin in "Anything Goes.")
  • Outstanding Performance by Actress in a Supporting Role. (Mikaela Esposito as Bonnie in "Anything Goes.")
  • Outstanding performance by a featured dancer. (Vanessa Ruggiero as Reno Sweeny in "Anything Goes.")
  • Outstanding use of costuming. ("Anything Goes")
  • Outstanding Small Ensemble Performance. (Vanessa Ruggiero, Zachary Esposito and Braxton White for "Friendship" in "Anything Goes.")

Bangor's nominations are:

  • Outstanding Stage Crew. ("Annie")
  • Outstanding Performance by Actor in a Supporting Role. (Justin Chesney as Rooster Hannigan in "Annie.")
  • Outstanding Small Ensemble Performance. (Alanna Dent, Justin Chesney and Rebecca Fish for "Easy Street" in "Annie.")
  • Outstanding Performance by an Orchestra. ("Annie.)

The awards will air on WFMZ-TV on May 23. They are held each year at the State Theatre in Easton.

Tickets for the Awards Ceremony on May 23rd are made available to the participating schools first. Any remaining tickets will go on sale to the public on Monday, May 20 at 10 AM at www.statetheatre.org
