Get to Know Me, Your Resident Photo Blogger

Meet our new photo blogger - a lifelong Tatamy resident, a mom, a wife and a woman with a passion for photography.

My name is Sarah Howey and I’ve lived in Tatamy for most of my life, all but maybe a year or two. I was also home-schooled.

I’ve always loved taking pictures, but I think my passion for photography really began when my son was born in 2006, which was also the year I married my wonderful husband.

I started looking at my pictures, wondering what I could do to improve them and make them better. In 2008, I purchased my first digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) camera, a Nikon D80. I found myself a little frustrated at first, not knowing how to make great pictures with this beautiful beast of a camera.

So, for most of 2008 and some of 2009, I shot in auto mode. This past year and a half, I’ve grown tired of auto mode. While this mode can take some nice pictures, it wasn’t enough for me. I wanted my photos to be better.

After researching all over the Internet and reading many different materials, it finally clicked for me. I finally can use my camera the way it was meant to be used -- in manual mode.

I don’t consider myself a professional, but someday, I hope to become a pro.

I’m thrilled to be able to share some of my pictures with you, three of which you can see to the right of my blog.

As the Nazareth Patch photo blogger, I hope to help aspiring photographers become better, and teach them to never quit, and to keep pursuing their dreams.
