Upper Nazareth Seeking Summer Volunteers

Supervisors agree to advertise for summer volunteers, will meet early next month to discuss revised budget proposals.

The Upper Nazareth Township Board of Supervisors is looking for a few good volunteers -- well, more than a few.

Supervisors voted Wednesday night to advertise for volunteers who would assist with a variety of chores around the township this summer.

According to supervisor Scott Sylvainus, willing and able volunteers will be asked to help at the township's yard waste recycling center in addition to taking on several tasks at the , such as watering trees.

Supervisors to add liability coverage for volunteer workers to the township's umbrella insurance policy.

Anyone interested in volunteering -- in any capacity -- should call the at (610) 759-5341. Volunteers do not need to live in Upper Nazareth.

In other business:

  • Township engineer Al Kortze said he plans to meet next week with the developer of the Florey Farm subdivision to discuss residents' concerns over the poor state of the development's roads.

    “We will go over the items I want him to fix immediately, and [will] get a timetable,” Kortze said.
  • Supervisors will meet 30 minutes early at the July 6 meeting to the head of each township department was asked to submit. At the direction of the supervisors, each department was asked to cut its budget by at least 10 percent.
