Upper Nazareth Seeking New Zoning Hearing Board Member

Current board member James Augustine -- an alternate -- will assume office as a township supervisor next year.

Current board member James Augustine -- an alternate -- will assume office as a township supervisor next year. Per state law, he cannot serve on both the Zoning Hearing Board and the Board of Supervisors.

In Pennsylvania, a township Zoning Hearing Board consists of three members and two alternates who are appointed by the board of supervisors. The board acts as a quasi-judicial body as it conducts legally binding hearings and issues decisions on appeals, variances and special exceptions to the township's zoning ordinances.
