Portions of Route 248 in Lower Nazareth to Get a Makeover

A road resurfacing project will begin near Route 33 in Lower Nazareth Township and end near Easton Area High School.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation plans to resurface sections of Route 248 between Route 33 and just before -- where Route 248 turns into S. 25th Street.

Timm Tenges, the manager of , announced the plans at Wednesday night's meeting.

According to Sean Brown, a district press officer for PennDOT, preliminary work on the project will begin on March 1. He said PennDOT will provide more information next week.

“I think it’s a fairly lengthy project,” Tenges said, adding that the project is expected to be completed by summer.

PennDOT crews will first grind down the surface of the road before resurfacing, Tenges explained. Only portions of Route 248 -- sections that are in the worst shape -- will be resurfaced, not the entire stretch of road.

Tenges said the work will be done, for the most part, at night. Late-night drivers should still expect periodic lane closures, he said.

In other road-related business, Tenges reported that two six-inch pipes were installed Monday on the S-turns near 4303 Christian Springs Road. The pipes will help drain water off the field, he said.
