Planners Approve Phillips Feed & Pet Supply Addition

A warehouse in East Allen Township will no longer be needed if Phillips Feed & Pet Supply receives final approval from the Lower Nazareth Board of Supervisors to build an addition to its distribution center on Hecktown Road.

After reviewing revised drainage and grading designs, the  on Monday approved the preliminary/final land development plan for a proposed 70,400-square-foot addition to the  distribution center on Hecktown Road.

According to Blaine Phillips, CEO of Phillips Feed & Pet Supply, to the back of the existing facility at 3747 Hecktown Road will streamline operations and eliminate the need for an East Allen Township warehouse, resulting in a drop in traffic between the two facilities.

“That whole shuffling from one warehouse to the other will stop,” Phillips said at the Planning Commission's meeting in July.

Paul Szewczak, a principal at Liberty Engineering in Allentown, explained that the plans do not call for additional water hook-up as there won't be an increase in employees.

The plans, which will need final approval from the , also include a new retention pond, room for more trailer parking and a new access road.
