Nazareth Spending $271K on Insurance

The Nazareth Borough Council renewed Brown & Brown of the Lehigh Valley to handle all borough insurance, saving $19,000.

The Nazareth Borough Council approved a motion for the renewal of all borough insurances with Brown & Brown of the Lehigh Valley at a cost of $271,663.

The renewal includes liability, vehicles, inland marine, contractor's equipment, workers' compensation and police and professional errors and omissions with Brown & Brown of the Lehigh Valley and the State Workers Insurance Fund and Allied World National Insurance.

The cost of the "municipal entity insurance package" to include worker's compensation coverage is lower than 2012, when the cost was $290,625.

The renewal includes professional services for administering of the borough's workers' compensation coverage with the state fund, administering benefits services for health, dental, optical and life insurances and their yearly renewals plus human resource consulting and compliance counseling.

The council approved the motion at its June 3 meeting.
