Nazareth Provides Pool Plan Timeline

Interviews with firms to build new Nazareth pool have begun.

The bidding process on the new Nazareth pool has begun.

The borough's pool committee, in holding a special meeting last month to discuss pool plans and costs, also presented a timeline for how the bidding process will be conducted.

The committee issued a Nazareth Pool and Facilities Renovation Project Milestone Timeline that started on July 3 with a request for proposals and concludes on Dec. 2 when bids for the pool, bathhouse and all facility work are awarded.

Councilman Chris Audenried, the pool committee chairman, said the eight-member committee wants to make its final selection of the pool’s designer/builder in time for a council vote on Sept. 3.

The borough has received four pool proposals.

In the timeline, interviews were expected to have started Tuesday.

After approval of a design professional on Sept. 3, the council is expected to direct the borough engineer to advertise for bids.

Bids are expected to be opened and turned over to the engineer on Oct. 31. By Nov. 4, the engineer is expected to return to the council with recommendations and observations.

Bids will then be awarded on Dec. 2.

Boro-park’s 74-year-old pool was shuttered this summer due to structural and safety issues.

In addition to what kind of new pool Nazareth should have, the committee must decide whether the old bathhouse should be renovated or replaced.
