Nazareth's government is going high tech.

Leading the charge of the technology committee, Borough Councilman Chris Audenried has proposed numerous ideas for bringing the borough's government up to speed with the technological times.

At its Sept. 3 meeting, the Borough Council approved spending $2,400 to buy a new server for the borough's computers. The council also approved a motion calling for the purchase of a firewall for $900 to protect those computers.

A motion was also approved to buy three smart phones for Police Chief Thomas Trachta, Public Works Superintendent Bob Reimer and Emergency Management Coordinator Jim Collins.

The council chambers was recently retrofitted with WiFi.
