Tell us about your educational background: Liberty HS-1960, BS-East Stroudsburg Univ.-1964, Masters-East Stroudsburg Univ.-1967

Tell us about your professional/business background: Educator for 37 years-served as Teacher Coach, Athletic Director,Operations Director, Central Office Administrator. Worked for engineering firm as Facilities Consultant for 10 years.

Why are you running for Nazareth Area School Board? Served as a consultant at the NASD for a 8-year period during which time, I have grown to like the Nazareth area & school district. Moved to Nazareth less than 2 years ago & decided to get involved in the School District.

What qualifies you to serve on the board? I have an extensive background & experience in school district matters. I have been a central office administrator for approximately 20 years during which I was responsible for Facilities & Operations, School Construction, Security, Co-Curricular Activities, etc. I have also served as a Teacher & coach. I have also had experience as a Facilities Consultant for 10 years overseeing school construction in addition to consultant services.

What do you see as the board's primary role and responsibilities? The Boards primary role is Planning, Setting Policy & Evaluating Results.

Tell us about three major challenges facing the Nazareth Area School Board and how you would address them. (Please be as specific as possible): The three major challenges in my view are Economic:

·      Up-coming contract negotiations with staff – I believe I have the necessary skills & experience to work with all stakeholders to resolve any contract issues resulting in the best solution for our children and taxpayers of our District.

·      The level of State Funding/Future Pension Rates – I feel with a collaborative effort by fellow Board Members & State Representatives we could collectively effect relief for our property owners and not saddle them with extra taxes to fund this mandate.

·      Maintaining High Quality Programs – The current economic climate dictates that we prioritize our expenditures & continually strive for creative & alternative ways of doing the business of educating our students. I believe I possess the skills & experience to address this issue.
