Top 3 Challenges and What I Would Do About Them:
· To increase open communication among board members, administrators, teachers, students, community and business members.
o The entire educational community should be educated as to what is occurring in the district related to such areas as the Common Core Standards, teacher evaluation and supervision, implementation of instructional programs, bullying, student safety, and budget concerns.
All district stakeholders need to partner with and demonstrate sincere appreciation for local community and business groups that are willing to contribute funding in the form of grants, endowments, scholarships, etc. These groups could provide valuable resources and at the same time alleviate tax burdens.
· Increased integration of technology across all academic areas.
o I would be a part of leading discussions, town meetings, and researching grant opportunities to seek out funding in order to continually improve upon the use of current instructional technology strategies throughout the K-12 learning environment.
· Balance a budget without sacrificing quality teachers, administrators and programs
o I feel I need to listen to the taxpayers about how to use their hard earned dollars wisely to make sound financial decisions, while continually improving upon the quality of education programs. I will use my wealth of successful experiences to find ways to try to reduce the tax burden on taxpayers while assuring a safe learning environment for all.
Why Am I Running For School Board
I am seeking election as a school board candidate for the Nazareth Area School District because I am passionate about education and I am concerned about the tax base. I want to be part of improving the quality of curriculum, assessment and instruction for all students in a community which has been home to me for my lifetime. I feel I have the knowledge and leadership skills to build partnerships, provide education excellence and at the same time appreciate taxpayer values.
