Longtime Council President Reappointed, Newcomer Welcomed

Nazareth Borough Council held its annual reorganization meeting Tuesday night, reappointing as president, a position he has held for more than 20 years. Chiavaroli in the November election, winning his eighth term on council.

, who Councilman in the November election, was reappointed vice president. Stoudt has been a councilman since June 12, 1975, when he was appointed to serve the remaining balance of an unexpired, vacated seat.

Michael Kopach and Frank Maurek also took the oath of office, administered by Mayor Fred Daugherty Jr. This is the fourth term for both councilmen.

Newcomer was finally able to take his seat at . Fischl ran a successful write-in campaign that won him a spot on the ballot in the November election. There were two open seats for the borough's Ward 2. Fischl alongside Stoudt.

There was a change in the lineup when it came to council committees. Three members sit on each committee, one being the chairman. All of the committees  except Economic Development have a new chairman.

Each committee meets monthly, discussing everything from the to the . All decisions, however, must be voted on at the monthly council meetings, held the first Monday of the month at 7 p.m.
