Lease Agreement Signed for Miracle League Field

Palmer Township officials agree to lease the new baseball field at the Charles Chrin Community Center for $1 a year for 30 years.

More than three months after at the in Palmer Township, the Board of Supervisors approved a motion Monday night to sign a lease agreement with the Miracle League of Northampton County.

"What's going to happen on that field will be priceless," said Supervisor Bob Lammi, who also serves on the Miracle League board.

The league hopes to have the field and its buildings finished by late summer or early fall. The field is located in the northeast corner of the Chrin center.

By using the community center site, the land, parking, infrastructure and water and sewer facilities are already provided.

It calls for Palmer to lease the field to the Miracle League for a $1 a year for 30 years.

The Miracle League would be in charge of providing maintenance for the field and liability coverage for the people who play there.

Miracle League fields have rubberized surfaces to help prevent injuries and eliminate any barriers to wheelchair-bound, equipment-assisted or visually impaired players.

If the league terminates the lease, it can't pass it on to another party without the approval of the supervisors.
