How is New Nazareth Mayor Carl Strye Jr. Doing?

Nazareth Mayor Carl Strye Jr. was chosen by Borough Council as mayor in early May.

Nazareth Mayor Carl Strye Jr. will be the first to tell you that being mayor has its challenges.

For over two months now, Strye has done on-the-job training filling the vacancy opened when Mayor Fred Daugherty Jr. resigned.

Strye, the president of the Vigilance Fire Co., has attended numerous of meetings: Borough Council regular meetings and worksessions, police and fire committee meetings and even some for the new pool committee.

His biggest challenge has been learning the intricacies of the Nazareth Police Department, trying to work on schedules with Police Chief Thomas Trachta, push for more part-timers and come up with a plan for a revamped police department.

You will also find Strye at numerous borough events, like the Nazareth Carnival and the upcoming Nazareth Days.

So how do you think Strye is doing as mayor? Please leave your comments below.
