Former Mayoral Candidate Wins Nazareth Council Write-In Spot

Lance Colondo, who emerged as a late candidate for Nazareth mayor, is now on ballot for Second Ward council seat in November.

Lance Colondo's political aspirations are continuing.

The manager of the First Niagara Bank in Bethlehem Township launched a late unsuccessful bid to become Nazareth's new mayor as Carl Strye Jr. was chosen over Colondo and Councilman Jack Herbst by Nazareth Borough Council.

But Colondo was informed on June 3 by the Northampton County Board of Elections that he was nominated by write-in votes as the winner of the Republican nomination for the Second Ward Council seat in the May 21 primary election.

That means Colondo will square off against Democratic newcomer Scott Dellatore to replace Councilwoman Cynthia Werner, who is not running for re-election.

Colondo needed 10 or more write-in votes to qualify.

In noting why he is suitable to serve in Nazareth's goverment, Colondo said he is "approachable, a fellow resident and parent."

"You will know where I stand on an issue once I make up my mind," Colondo stated. "I believe in clear communication. I am not concerned about political affiliation but about doing the right thing. We need less bickering and more action."
