Woman Slips Cuffs, Runs from Bushkill Township Police

An East Bangor woman taken into custody on an outstanding warrant slipped out of her handcuffs and through the back door of but didn’t get far before she was recaptured early Tuesday, according to court records.

Nikkole Maree Miller, 23, of the 100 block of Lakewood Drive was stopped by a township police officer in the 1100 block of Bushkill Center Road at about midnight Monday after he noticed that her car registration had expired, according to the arrest affidavit.

Miller was taken into custody after the officer learned that Miller also had an outstanding arrest warrant. Miller was handcuffed to a bench in the township police station while officers waited for Northampton County sheriff’s deputies to arrive.

Miller managed to work her way out of the cuffs and ran out of the station’s back door. But she had only run 150 yards before police caught up to her and put her back in custody along Firehouse Lane, the court papers said.

Miller was charged with escape and disorderly conduct, both misdemeanors, and arraigned before night duty District Judge Roy Manwaring II in Bethlehem.
