Walnutport Woman Killed in Upper Nazareth Township Crash

Kelly Quier of Walnutport identified as person killed in Upper Nazareth Township crash.

A Walnutport woman driving a First Student, Inc. van has been identified as the person .

Kelly Quier, 42, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Northampton County Coroner Zachary Lysek.

Lysek has yet to determine Quier's cause and manner of death. He said more information would be available Wednesday afternoon.

Quier was driving a First Student van on Newburg Road when, for unknown reasons, she crossed the center line and collided with a recreational vehicle, according to Alan Siegfried, chief of Upper Nazareth police.

There was one student in the van. The student was taken to in Fountain Hill.

The driver of the RV was also taken to St. Luke’s. No word was given on the condition of either.

The van had just entered Upper Nazareth on Newburg Road and the RV was headed toward Route 191 in Lower Nazareth Township.

While the RV sustained some damage, the wreckage of the student van was strewn along the road.

Siegfried said the department will do a “scene reconstruction” Wednesday morning to learn more about the accident.

 responded to the crash at 3:32 p.m., secured the scene and then turned the scene over to Upper Nazareth Police. The accident happened about 75 to 100 yards into Upper Nazareth, according to Siegfried.

Hecktown Volunteer Fire and Ambulance, state police responded to the scene.
