Mayor Fred Daugherty Jr. reported at Monday night's Borough Council meeting that police incidents like this have been on the rise. There was a 60 percent increase from March to April.

That included 10 disorderly conduct citations -- 50 percent more than March.

"It's definitely a spike," Police Chief Thomas Trachta said. "As summer approaches, there's a lot more crime. People are outside so you get more vandalism, graffiti and criminal mischief. The same thing happened last year at this time and the year before that."

Members of the public complained about the spike, including cases of vandalism. There were 15 vandalism cases in both March and April.

"We have less police officers, and it's well-known," Trachta said. "That's the problem,"
