Vandalism, Larceny Theft Top Nazareth May Crime Report

The Nazareth Police Department handled 23 crimes during the month of May.

The Nazareth Police Department investigated 23 crimes during the month of May, according to a report prepared by Police Chief Thomas Trachta.

Between May 1 and May 31, the police department had 23 crimes that were reported with 20 follow-up investigations leading to six arrests and 10 hours of court time.

Of those crimes, seven were for vandalism, five for larceny theft, three each for burglary, disorderly conduct and other offenses and one each for driving under the influence and fraud.

The police department handed out nine traffic tickets and issued 12 warnings.

There were also three traffic accidents and eight that weren't reported.

Regarding parking enforcement, there were 166 parking meter violations, 49 non-meter violations issued and 215 parking tickets.

The calls for service for the month were 233. And Nazareth collected $1,288.33 fines for May compared with $810 for April. 

The report is delivered to the Nazareth Borough Council every month.
