Two-Car Accident in Lower Nazareth Leads to DUI Charge

A Monroe County man had a BAC of .19 percent when he was involved in a two-car accident in Lower Nazareth Township, according to police.

A Monroe County man admitted to drinking three beers before he was involved in a two-car accident at the intersection of Newburg Road and Nazareth Pike (Route 191) in , according to .

A blood test showed that Edward Olker Jr., 58, of Mountainhome had a blood-alcohol content of .19 percent.

The legal limit for motorists in Pennsylvania is .08 percent.

The officers who responded to the accident on Feb. 18 around 6:37 p.m. observed signs of impairment and detected an odor of alcohol on Olker's breath. Olker admitted to drinking three beers earlier in the day.

Olker was given several field sobriety tests, which he failed, according to police.

He was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and taken to the Bethlehem DUI Center for processing.

Charges will be filed through office.
