Teacher's Aide Accused of Shoplifting with Sons Headed to Court

A teacher's aide in the Easton Area School District charged with shoplifting from a Lower Nazareth Township department store waived her right to a preliminary hearing Thursday.

Patrice Poloso, 47, of the 1100 block of Meco Road, Forks Township, previously admitted to police she stole items from in during a July 26 shopping trip with her sons.

She waived her hearing before of Lower Nazareth. Her formal arraignment is set for Sept. 27 at 9 a.m. in Northampton County Court. When she was charged later on July 26, she was released on $10,000 unsecured bail.

According to a criminal complaint, Poloso allegedly stole a backpack, a pair of Nike sneakers and two curtain rods -- with a total value of $159.76. Her two sons -- one of them a 13-year-old -- were with her.

Surveillance cameras at Kohl’s followed her around the store and in the parking lot. One camera zoomed in on the license plate of her red 2008 Saturn Vue, helping officials to identify her.

Police later went to her home, where she admitted to the theft and returned the items, the complaint says.
