Stockertown "Dirty" Bomb Just a Box of Rocks

Man Who Caused Stockertown Bomb Scare Sentenced.

Robert Perry, convicted of charges relating to a last April, was sentenced this week to state prison.

The bizarre cache in Perry's car found during the April incident included a box of rocks that tripped radiation meters, pills, three Keystone Light beer cans (two empty and one half-full) and a loaded .50-caliber Dragon Slayer compressed air rifle, according to court records. The rocks were later found to be safe after a bomb squad investigated.

Stockertown's Main Street was shut down during the incident and three homes were evacuated.

Originally charged with 11 criminal and misdemeanor charges, Perryof a first offense DUI, reckless endangerment, giving false identification to law enforcement and making terroristic threats that caused serious public inconvenience.

Appearing before Judge Edward G. Smith on Monday, Perry, of Monroe County, was sentenced to 12 to 36 months to be served in state prison for making terroristic threats. Concurrently, he is to serve five to 24 months for reckless endangerment.

Perry, 44, will receive credit for time served. He has remained in Northampton County Prison since his arrest.

Perry was also fined $1,500 for driving under the influence. He has been additionally ordered to complete highway safety classes, undergo drug and alcohol evaluations and rehabilitation and submit to psychological and psychiatric testing by the judge, who further recommended Perry be placed in a state facility that can also address his mental health issues.
