Police: Nazareth Man Hid Hot iPad in Clothes Dryer

A Nazareth man described by his girlfriend as a heroin user has been charged with stealing an iPad and jewelry Tuesday afternoon that police found in a book bag inside a laundromat dryer, according to and court records.

Gregory Freer, 31, of 100 block S. Cedar St. is accused of taking the items from the house of his girlfriend’s sister. He was taken into custody in the area of the laundromat on Belvidere Street, the records say. assisted Nazareth police in the arrest.

The girlfriend told police when they arrived around 2:20pm that Freer had stolen a key to her sister’s house. The girlfriend said she had seen him there earlier “sneaking around” and that they had gotten into an argument about it. He then asked her for his black book bag and left, the records say.

The items recovered from the book bag were a pink iPad, three gold rings, a gold bracelet and a key to a safe. Freer returned the key for the sister’s house to his girlfriend, according to a probable cause affidavit filed with District Judge John Capobianco of Nazareth.

Freer was taken to Northampton County Prison, where he was held on a detainer. He is on probation for a previous offense. According to court records, Freer pleaded guilty in April 2009 to a charge of theft by unlawful taking for a 2008 case in Nazareth.
